Artistic Bio

 

Described by the Fanfare Magazine as a genuine poet at the keyboard, Netherlands based pianist Pablo Suaste’s elegant and virtuosic artistry has led him to be recognized as a rising artist in the music world.

In January 2017, he won the Aeolian Classics Emerging Artist Award in Chicago as a result, he recorded a debut solo album dedicated to works of Franz Liszt , released in 2017 on Aeolian Classics. This lead to an intense recital tour in Mexico and the U.S in the following years.

In August 2018 Pablo was awarded with the second prize at the Esperanza Cruz International Piano Competition. He was awarded with the third prize at the UDG Competition in Mexico, where he also received the prize for the best rendition of the compulsory piece. In addition, he recently received the bronze medal at the Angelica Morales International Piano Competition in México.

Past performance highlights include appearances at important concert venues in Mexico, the United States and The Netherlands, including concerts in New York, Michigan, Chicago, Kansas, Amsterdam, Naarden and Mexico City. Past presentations also include his orchestral debut conducted by the world renowned pianist and conductor Philippe Entremont with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, and most recently a successful debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of México, both with Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto. In addition, previous engagements included his debut with Beethoven First Piano Concerto with the Aguascalientes Symphony Orchestra and Rachmaninov Second with the Puebla 5 de Mayo Philharmonic, as well presentations in venues such as the Tlaqná Concert Hall, the main hall of the Palacio de Bellas Artes México, the Chicago Cultural Center, the MUNAL (National Museum of México, the Teopanzolco Cultural Center and the Naarden International Piano Festival in The Netherlands. 

Recently Pablo collaborated with rising star double bassist Sasha Witteveen performing in Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam for NPO Klassiek. In addition, he has collaborated with the Netherlands based violin duo Grimm Duette.

Before studying in Amsterdam, Pablo completed his Bachelor degree at the Chicago College of Performing Arts , Roosevelt University, under the guidance of world renowned pianist Jorge Federico Osorio.

Pablo has received master classes by artists such as Lang Lang, Boris Berman, Igor Levit, Jean Dube, Adam Neiman and Nino Gvetadze. 

In 2022, Pablo finished his Masters Degree in piano performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with professor Naum Grubert. In June 2020, Pablo was the recipient of the Holland Scholarship granted by the Amsterdam University of the Arts. In addition, Pablo was supported by the Jacques Vonk Foundation and the National Music Foundation with the use of a Steinway grand piano. Despite his recent arrival in the Netherlands, Suaste is a commited educator in his community, and alongside his career as a performer, he has a total of 38 piano students in IJburg, where he aims to educate and spread classical music to children and their families.

Alongside his career as a concert pianist and educator, Pablo is a folk musician, specializing in folk Mexican guitar and Jarana. He is also professional flutist with years of symphony orchestra experience and folk music singer, focusing on Mexican traditional music such as Son Huasteco and Son Jarocho. Since 2023 he is a member of the folk music group "Trio Zorzal", where he plays the Huapanguera Guitar. This trio aims to spread diversity and joyfulness of Mexican music in Europe.
